Membership in our local expression of Christ’s Church is constituted by faith, sealed in baptism. Baptism is the ordinance of initiation into the covenant of grace and the catholic (“universal”) Church; the one baptized maintains good standing in the Church by walking in faith, by the grace of God. While baptism marks our membership in the catholic (“universal”) Church, faithful believers ordinarily enter the membership of Desert Son Community Church, as a local body, when they have approval of the elders.
 
We use the word “member” in the following ways:

• To describe a believer united in heart to Christ and His people. He is so united by being a member of His Body, and, as a picture and expression of this, he is a member of a local body of believers, which is a physical representation of the universal, spiritual Body of Christ.
• To indicate the soul toward whom the elders have an obligation before Christ and for whom the Pastors will give an account on the day of judgment.
• To indicate one who has entered into a relationship of mutual covenant accountability with each other and with those who are officers of the church (elders and deacons).
